I would get the 7.62x51. Shoots flatter. I know it costs more for plinking or "fun" ammo, but it should work better for deer at longer ranges.Going 7.62 this year. Trying to decide between x39 or x51. Both make me giggle. (Not FULL giggle. They're all broken by the ATF so only one bang per trigger pull.)
.243 with a 100 grain partition is a bang flop scenario.
I like the 105 amax
Not a fan of it, over half of the deer that "were shot somewhere else and ended up in my yard or my tree rows" type deal are 95% of the time shot with somthing less than .30 cal. Every stuatuon dictates but if you kick up the biggest buck of your life and he's running straight away through cattails I'll be glad I shoot a .30 cal.
Ive shot 170 class whiteys in cattails with a .243, the 100 grain partition will go up the butt and out the chest.
Why you be shootn' de deer up his ass?

Somebody said a 243 will just bounce off a deer.....or maybe that was a 223......or a 22-250. I can't keep it straight. That's why I hunt deer with a Dodge. That and I can't seem to get a rifle tag in ND.
Martini? Front of the breech block tips down?
I'm partial to my grandpa's .218bee he got built back in the 50's with the unterl scope. Breach loading sweet little gun but the extractor broke and need to get it fixed
