Anyone else ever done this male form of child birth. Hit me Friday afternoon, brother took me to emergency room at 2 in morning, surgery by 9am, sent me home at 3 this afternoon, Have a catheter the size of a tow rope with a stent. Go back on Tue for more surgery to remove stone from catheter. Never ever have I had such pain.

I have had them multiple times . Worst pain I've ever had too .
My brother has had my luck too . It's amazing that something
that can be the size of a grain of sand can inflict that much
pain .

Yes, I had 1 in my lifetime, thought I had food poisoning initially when I was laying on the ER waiting room floor curled up in a fetal position, vomiting. Turned out to be stone having to be surgically pulverized. I also had Stent in place for a week or so, and then removed.

Ive heard from women who have had kidney stones too and they claim it's worse than child birth.

My pain was caused by stone exiting the kidney, and just entering the ureter tract.

I've had two. The first one had me thinking I was going to die. I laid on the doctor table and prayed like a maniac(ha). I never needed surgery, though. One of them rolled around in the bladder for about 3 months before I got the privilege of freeing it into the toilet. Not fun.

I have had 3. 2 passed on their own after a couple hours. 1 got stuck in the tube between kidney and bladder. I had to have surgery to get it removed and they put a stint in so the tube would not swell shut. The pain of passing a stone is almost unbearable (like passing out pain) but the stint thing sucked too. It stung like hell when I pissed and felt like someone had a hand inside me squizing, super strange. Also getting the stint removed was pretty painful. When they run the wire up your penis I gave a pretty good hawler.

Agree that they are painful but I've had several and all have passed on their own. No surgery or stents or anything else inserted in my swizzle stick. The amazing thing to me is that when they pass the pain is gone. Like going from a huge Charlie Horse in your back to wondering how it can just end like that. Did have one pulverized that was in my kidney but all the pieces passed without incident.

For those of you who have not had one, they are painful but you will live and if that's the worst that ever happens to me, I guess I can deal with that pain for awhile. For me I feel more for those who are going through a tough illness for months at a time or even years. When I think of it like that I don't feel so sorry for myself.

Coming back to Minot from fishing one day in the 90's. Got south of max and had to pullover from the pain. Had my buddy tow the boat the rest of the way home. Thought I would die that night. Went to Airforce doc, he gave me several Percocet because the next week I was going TDY for 6 mos to Shepard AFB in TX. Long story but had several more episodes in TX... thanks Percocet. Got back to MAFB and they finally broke the thing up and it went away. DONT drink dark fluids everyday. Drink water often. Coke, coffee may get you like it did me. My stone looked like solidified Coca Cola.

Early 90s - went out and shoveled snow - came back in and my back hurt.

Pain just kept getting worse - after a couple hours I’m in sort of a fetal position on my knees and whispered to wifey to call the ambulance.

Few hours of hell at hospital - they gave me some “dilator” or some such and boom. Gone.

Forever hopefully. You really do wish for death - nasty little things.

Lithotripsy-not surgery! It's a sonic stone-pulverizing method, then home, feeling fine after a couple hours. Don't go through the invasive surgery option.

Mine came when we had drug testing at work, I couldn't fill the cup quite full so I pushed to fill that last little bit. something felt weird. I was joking with the lady giving the test that I pushed an organ loose. little did I know what was coming later. That little bugger was 8mm big and they had to go get it, I was violated, I had the stint for a week also, I didn't stop bleeding until the stint was removed. The Nurse told me removing the stint was not going to be the highlight of my day. That Nurse is an honest one for sure, she didn't lie to me Dr. told me the Citric acid in lemonade breaks down Kidney Sones, Cranberry Juice creates Kidney Stones but good for bladder infections.

I wonder what happened to people back in the day before modern medicine, like 1800's eary 1900's ? can you die from a kidney stone? or does pressure just keep building till it comes shooting out?

Been there, done that. It sucks. It's been almost 20 years, Dr. told me to drink cranberry juice to prevent them. I drink 2 glasses a week, haven't had one since.

I've had several, only 1 required surgery. Drink lots of water, I mean a lot of water, until you think your going to drown and then drink some more. I'm not sure which is worse passing one of them damn things or pulling that damn stent out after the surgery. Mother of god!:;:help
