There are dominant players in world of walleye fishing, but nothing like KVD in bass fishing. Why is that?

Walleyes talk to fast. That and W.A.L.L.E.Y.E doesn't fit very well on a NASCAR racer.

Could be that since walleye tournaments are mostly team fishing it becomes very hard to compare and one guy is as good or bad as his teammate in some events. Individually some of the oldies like Bob Probst may have been the closest thing. Kavajecz now days may be it but no one is like KVD, next in line is Rick Clunn. He's still good at 69. Got a win this year.

Interesting, but there is piles of money and recognition for a walleye KVD. Mildly comedic non-the-less.

Not a good comparison when you look at the NWT.

The NWT pushes pro fishing at an individual basis. FYI

I don't understand. Isn't NASCAR the same as dragging bottom bouncing chartreuse Lindy's and dealing with unskilled traffic? I realize it's a much slower speed and the prize is reeling in a "sandbag" or "discarded T-shirt"...

In all seriousness; bass guys never completely joined the church of Buck Perry. The NWT would achieve some cross over if it eliminated trolling, live bait and to some extent; nets. Just waiting for BASS to allow nets. Many bass tournaments now allow them. Gay.

I disagree Buddyguy. Perry was a pioneer of terrain and structure.

I really don't think there ever will be a guy as dominant as KVD in the walleye world. Here is why I think that. Walleye are schooling fish on many big bodies of water that pro tourneys are fished on. Take Erie for instance. You'll have half the field fishing the same school of fish. Skill definately plays a factor but I think in walleye fishing luck is a bigger factor than it is in bass fishing. Don't get me wrong luck is a factor in all fishing just a little more so in the walleye game. Back to half the field fishing the same school of fish luck is gonna play a huge part in who gets the big bites. In bass fishing at times all 100 anglers will be fishing different fish. Some may be useing the same tactics but different areas at different depths. It really comes down to who can figure out the puzzle the best. Catching bigger bass is more of a puzzle. Bass are spot fish, walleye are schooling fish. When you have a school the finding fish part of the puzzle is already solved in some cases not all. Unless a certain walleye fisherman figured out a real out of the ordinary technique and kept it secret I don't ever a see a KVD in walleye fishing.

He almost seemed sad that the guy caught the walleye on a blade. He trolls like Uncle Roman pulling Chet Ripley on skis.

agreed... Just thought the spoonplugs were a racket since they continued to be sold as a solid solution to figuring out structure well after affordable sonar became available.

Agreed. The lure was a prize to sweeten book sales. In full disclosure; I believe Perry designed the lure to support his concept.

I guess we can now become politicians.

By far the best insight so far. I appreciate your eye.

So all walleye converge to one spot with the weather? PWT just needs to stop being gay.
