Lake Ashtabula?

Going fishing this weekend, and am thinking of staying away from the DL area lakes on the Minnesota side. Haven't been out on Ashtabula this year yet. Is it worth the trip?#$%^&>

Don't know about the lake itself from a boat, but had a buddy fish the crossing from shore and he said the weeds are making it a pain to fish there. Even from the corners of the bridge. He got 1 smallmouth and a pile of bullheads using minnows. The sheyenne is giving up some eyes, smallmouth, perch, and northerns, but not a steady bite. Luck of the draw during the day with the walleyes starting to pick up late evening into early night. Good Luck!!!
