So with this new snowfall, anyone concerned about access to the ice? I know this round of snow varied in depth dramatically...so sure some lakes shouldn't be a problem getting on the ice. Thinking tho that some places gonna be tough to get at without a wheeler or sled. I was really looking forward to a better bite in March...what do you guys think?

Going to take a ride today and see what the countryside looks like. I just might go by a few lakes while I'm out. (Grin)

Not to worried about it. Getting on the lake might be tough if it blew in but this snow was so heavy it didn't move at all. I've always got a shovel and tow strap or chain.

Only got 6 or 7 inches here. Was going to put the tracks on the ranger before this but glad I didn't. Checked snares today and drove everywhere with just tires. It was still soft and fluffy but it might harden up the next couple nights with lower temps.

Lake access is hit and miss. Hobart access was plowed, but the lake was covered in deep snow. Moon access was snowed in. Hit my perch spot and the access was blown in, but I blasted through. The rest of the lake was deep snow, but I smashed through the drifts with my 3/4 ton dodge going about 20 and made it where I wanted to go. Lots of deep snow, but if you're not worried about losing your front license plate and aren't afraid to dig a bit if you get stuck, you can get around. Caught 16 nice perch in 4 hours of fishing and will be there again tomorrow. Good Luck All!!

Forgot to mention that the snow blew in my tracks while I was fishing and getting back off the lake was interesting. Had to shovel a bit, and knocked my truck around a bit, but I got off alright. The lakes in the VC area are NOT for the the faint of heart or those thinking a midsize SUV will be enough. 4wd is a must and a bit of azz backing it up will make a day of fishing MUCH more enjoyable.
