Plugs go in before backing down the ramp, live well and back of boat(unless I'm camping, then everything gets ready at the camper, so all I have to do is back down the ramp when get to it). When I get done fishing, plugs are pulled at the top of the ramp or in the parking lot, and hopefully fish in the live well get put into a bucket, when I am out of everyone else's way.

My plug is feathered to the hole I then hook to a bungee that is on the transom saver. Have to un hook it everytime I take off saver. Not a big deal for me. 9258B7DA-ACC2-4AFD-A6E6-CE93D175C0BA.jpg

You Macgyver'd the shit outta that!

Big Macs and boat plugs

That sounds like a bit that Rodney Carrington could either turn into a good 3-4min song or 15min worth of comic gold.

The one I dislike the most is the draining of the livewell. I am not going to skank up a fricken cooler, and I only fish Sakakawea, the same source for all water in Dickinson. No chance of me spreading anything.
But being it’s the law and all, I follow it.

Same here, I only fish OAHE. The boat ramp is less than a mile from my driveway. I see no harm in leaving water in my livewell. If I ever travel out of the area, I'll follow all ANS laws.

I put the plug in before I leave the house and I pull it as soon as the boat is out of the water. That's the way I've been doing it for years and I'm not going to change.

Same with me. I'm not subject to the ANS crap because I only launch/load in the Pacific Ocean in northern CA. When we load after fishing/crabbing/diving I drive onto the trailer. One guy hooks the boat up and tightens the web belt. Then the boat is pulled out of the water and the bilge plug is removed. It is a threaded, brass plug.

The next time we go out I grease the bearing buddies and put the plug in while waiting for my crew to show-up in the morning. Then we head out and catch salmon/pull crab pots/SCUBA dive and spear rockfish ... and repeat as often as we can.

At Metigoshe I launch the boats in the spring and load in the fall. Other than that they stay on the lifts when not in use.

Everyone I've ever boated with has pulled a plug after getting out of a lake and remembered to put it back in before launching. It's just part of the steps. I've seen this since well before "ANS" was part of our vocabulary.

I can't imagine how something so simple could cause so much difficulty for someone.

I agree it is kinda a pita, especially if you dont have a leaky boat, not as much of a pita as having to drain my livewell tho!

This is technically illegal in North Dakota
