I made it 4Min, right up to the point that the pure drivel spouted from the get-go got to the point of telling the listener that the M70 is Control Round Fed and the Springfield is not.

Leading up to that, talking about the Deadliest Marine Sniper and showing the Remington pushfeed fitted with a M70 3-position safety was a significant low point, as was the part droning on about the Springfield while showing a Remington pump 22. The Pre-64 M70 Featherweight w/the 2-7 Redfield atop it would be another gaping hole in the story.

Basically, the 1st 4 minutes of this is as bad or worse/has more inaccuracies than any Hollywood feature film with any gunplay.

Did you like the damn vid or not? I spent a day with one years ago. I would've bet money we were loading straight in the pipe.

No. I don’t like inaccuracies that make B movies look like gospel truth.

Depends on if you had a pre-64, post-64 push-feed, post-64 controlled feed, or post-64 control-round push feed.

Actually, it only matters if it was pre or post ‘64.

Pre-64’s extractor often either won’t snap over the case-rim and therefore won’t allow the bolt to close, it often also bends the extractor in the purpose requiring replacement (which is a simple ~30 sec fix.). In the event of a “non-snap-over” you’ll likely end up w/a bolt you have to hammer open, when it lets go you’ll have a projectile stuck in the lands and an action full of loose powder.

The newer control round feed “classic” actions have an extractor that’s beveled to snap over w/out being fed from the belly. But, a bit of condensation and a re-freeze can negate the bevel, disallow a “snap-over”, and you’re back to hammering the bolt open, flinging loose powder, and a bullet stuck in the lands.

Push-feed and control-round push-feed will feed loose off the magazine follower (without being snapped into the mag-box) without a problem.

I meant '03. Dad's 98s and my 77 taught me about PF and CRF in real time/E. The CRF M70 was a prize in Viet Nam and snipers have written about it and the importance of lot# ammo consistency.

Both Win and Rem continue to trip over their dicks IMO. Win/Browning choose Asia.

That is all.

Rem is in full shut-down currently. If I was informed correctly, Rem didn’t even have a booth @ SHOT SHOW this yr.

Winchester M70’s are Belgian/Portugese, no longer produced here, SX4 shotgun isn’t domestic production either. Not sure about the Expert or new cheapo lever. The rest of the old Winchester levers and the 52 Bolt actions are made in Japan.

It's a shame that so much of our gun mfg. has left the USA for cheaper labor. The result in
almost all cases is cheaper finished product.
I think all Rugers are USA made.
