According to Caulk, the deputy was traveling around 114 mph with his lights and sirens on when he struck the deer. The deputy was responding to a report about a man with a gun at a local restaurant in Cambridge, Minn.

always hated driving the fire truck at night with the lights going, made visibility shit, and at any speed them things were hard to slow down at a moments notice, can't imagine going 114 mph

I always told myself and my kids do not try to avoid, hit the deer straight on. But, I agree, it does not appear he had any time to react to this deer. db

Yep, 1/2 a story here. I'm guessing there was no bad guy with a gun or they would have reported that.
