The more important questions is "who cares?"..do you want to go fishing or do you want your boat to sit in the garage?"

09 F250 with the 6.4L, unchipped. 12.8 mpg pulling boat, no matter the conditions, about 12 even pulling the pontoon, but have seen it as low as about 11 mpg in the wind and at higher than recommended speeds.

While pulling my 1880 with my 2014 tundra, I’d get about 8 mpg. After towing this 198 warrior this weekend, I was at about 6 mpg. I don’t miss too many fuel stops.

An honest tundra owner finally!

I've always been very impressed with my Tundra's and I've owned three now. My '17 would pull my 38' bumper pull and still manage 7-8 mpg. My latest Tundra ('11) doesn't do quite as well, but I like the style of the truck a lot more and it's leveled with bigger tires... At one point I just quit caring what I get for fuel economy. I still track it, but just cuz I want to know, not because I actually care.

The only thing I liked about the newer Tundra's compared to my older one now was the larger gas tank. They bumped from 26gal to 38gal in either '16 or '17.

I have a '11 Tundra and did not buy it for the full economy ... however with the smaller gas tank and pulling a 22ft tri-toon I might as well have drilled a hole in the gas tank...probably would have been more full efficient

What's worst than a dishonest tundra owner is the GM and Eco boost owners who brag about 20+ mpg until they hook up to a 500# boat and trailer and hit the interstate and suddenly it gets 11, just like my F250 and Tundra.

You can tell a lot about a person by what they tell you they get for fuel mileage.

I think the "glass is half full" crew remember the mileage better on days they had a good tailwind; whereas the "glass is half empty" guys remember the days where they pull a sail into our gentle breezes.

I just did a trip from Williston to Perrault Falls Ontaio, about 650 miles each way, so 1300 total....the average for the whole trip was 11.7 mpg. That was flat, hills, calm, wind etc etc. 2016 3.5L EcoBoost towing a 21' Alumacraft with 250 and kicker, travel cover. I was pleased with that.

I get around 10-12 pulling the boat behind my 14 f150 EcoBoost 8-10 with the camper and boat. That is running 91oct gas. Cheaper gas and it gets much worse. Funny thing is as soon as I get out of ND I usually get 1-2 MPG better.

I feel you Tundra owners. My buddy has one and when we pull the campers anywhere he has to stop for gas more than my wife has to use the restroom.

2012 F350, Crew cab long box, 3.55's, Powerstroke. Unloaded 17.5-21 all depending on wind on interstate. Made a few trips out of state to pick up some airplane projects. First trip was down to Wyoming, 80 mph cruise 99% of the trip with a 28 foot enclosed bumper pull trailer, and a nasty head wind it seemed on the way down and all the way back.. averaged around 9 the entire trip. Second trip was to very southwest corner of Idaho, pulling a 24 foot enclosed bumper, little slower through Montana and down through west Yellowstone and then 80 across Idaho again, averaged about 10-10.5. Pulling the wife's 3 horse trailer loaded up, 75-80 interstate its always 10.5-12.

Really doesn't matter for mileage on almost every pickup across the board... load them heavy, or light even it seems, and mileage is about half.

MPG is like how big your dick is or how big your girl friends tits are, everybody stretches the truth.

my guess would be it's not the price of the gas but what's in it...there are many 91oct that still blend ethanol, I bet if you ran 100% gas even in an 87oct you'd still get decent mileage

But at least we actually can get 20 without a trailer which is how most miles are driven ;)
