All depends on what you consider fishable. Now there's guys out here that'll drive trucks and stuff I won't walk on but when I see forecast like this for Minot I'll guarantee you they're going to be people on the ice probably by next weekend because they're crazy! Now obviously things like Des Lacs are going to take longer to freeze but there's going to be ice fishing going on soon enough on some of the smaller stuff at least.

this will be a start!!!! 3 inches and a hatchet and I’ll be catching eyes in the evening on Nelson bay.

^ changes every few days tho right Allen? Two days ago we were in the "below average" zone on the map...so guess it's a crap shoot. But I do have to decide when to take the boat to the storage garage...based on the next 14 days...guessing I'll be heading there early next week!

Yep, the 6-10 and 8-14 are done every day and you have to remember it's the "average" temp during that period. So when you see a shift in patterns on the same product, remember that the first couple of days may actually be the opposite of that indicated. Or the last couple days.

But I digress. The actual effective dates on the two images we are using are not the same, rather they are consecutive.

I hope everyone that does test any ice that's formed keep safety as their first and foremost objective.

Basing it on what though? In the end it's still an El Nino year and that tends to lead to warmer then normal.

Storm Stalker is not the greatest at forecasting. He takes good photographs but a meteorologist he is not.

Just cleaned and charged my electronics and went over my short rods and reels. Feels good to be a little prepared. Better go jig rapping eyes tomorrow:)

It’s going to be cold but will it be cold enough to freeze some lakes?
