That's because GMO is genetically modified organism a very precise definition of a practice that didn't exist until 1982! making new crops by mixing them with other crops has been being done since before history was recorded! it's not like there used to be packs of wild Chihuahuas running loose across the countryside or herds off holsteins feeding on fields of sweet corn 10,000 years ago.
