Clam recently released some new clothing and gear for the year.

This gear box conversion kit looks interesting. It mounts to your existing Clam plate to allow the use of 8 and 9 inch augers.

I find myself using the gas auger less every year. Last spring one of my buddies even used his Milwaukee Fuel with the K-drill on Lake Winnipeg and it worked even better than expected. (that is until he forgot in the ditch when leaving the ice on Saturday night)

im ready for ice. I used to be a big fan of clam untill I replaced my voyager and yukon with a otter xt1200 lodge. I do still have a clam bigfoot 4000 and a kenai pro thermal. Both work well and serve there purpose but I think the new otter hub houses and one man flip over are better but were not available when I bought these. I have the regular ice armor blue suit and I have nothing to compare it too but I love that thing tons of pockets and not too thick so I can layer under it. I waited quite a few years until I finally bought a ice fishing suit and wish I could go back in time and do it sooner. Way better than the old carharts!

The clam stuff doesn't really excite me, i think their quality has been going down for a while. The Milwaukee/k-drill combo is definitely tempting. I have a Honda strike master that i love, But for early ice it would be nice to just pull a trigger and drill. I saw several guys using them last year. They looked pretty sweet! My new toy this year will be a Helix 7 for my ATV for lake contours/gps.

The new Kenai Pro Thermal Stealth looks cool. Full 900D thermal and only weighs 48 lbs. Not cheap at 400 bucks though :/

I bought that at the beginning of last year. Think it is the same but mine has the cracked ice patten fabric. Worked well and love how there are no poles to extend. just sit down and flip it over. I bought it for 350. shortly after the otter hideout became available and I like that one a little better but it is more expensive.

To early MM.
I have some rooties to blast first.

I hear ya, they just announced this stuff a couple days ago. Hell, I haven't even begun to seriously muskie fish this year yet. That will go right up until December 1.

I am getting to be less a fan of the winter every year, but since I can never move I might as well make the most of it.

Clam has been surpassed by otter in every aspect (including price). But I'll pay more for things that will last. Their fans, shovels, lights, etc are garbage. I'll buy a few of their lures a year but even them seem poorly made and thought out.

I have one of the little clam shovels and really like it. Everything else you mention I mostly agree with. Clam is much better at marketing though!

whats with the shit hooks they use these days?! Maddening. (not exclusive to clam - northland sucks too, and jigging rap trebles need to be replaced as well)

Carhart insulated bibs and hooded jacket are my go to ice fishing attire and they don't cost 500 clams for a set.

I spend about the same amount of money at dakota tackle on tackle and trebles. The good thing is, he'll sell to you at a discounted rate if you buy over 100 at a time. ouch.
