Gonna buy a new gas auger this weekend, my hand auger did fine last year but I never had more than 18 inches anywhere I went. Kinda think we may have that much ice by Christmas this year. Anyway, from what I've read there's not much of a "break in" on a small 2 stroke. Planning to just use the pre-mixed TruFuel in it, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated...this will be my first gas auger...thanks gents!

break-in... ha ha ha ha ha

I was thinking the same thing! I do remember reading about running it rich the first tank but Ive ran mine hard and put it away wet for 6-7 years now without issues. its a cheapo eskimo so I wont be too heartbroken if she fails.

the old jiffy model 30 has had its ass kicked for the last 25 years, and yet she still loves me.

I think I just put the power head in a gallon bucket (without the auger attached) and let it run to burn up most of a tank of gas. Like Ahab said there will be instructions in the owners manual.

Just like our old Yamaha Enduro's we had when we were kids, run the piss out of it and it will run good forever

Have you had any issues with the Eskimo? Might grab the little 33cc Stingray...can't beat the price-should be able to handle 30+ inches from what I've read.

A buddy of mine bought the Eskimo shark 8" last year. He likes it and I was impressed with it the handful of times I was around it. Started and cut holes with ease.
