.243 is alright for a whitetail doe, but I believe in go big or go home...…. 30-06 is my everyday go to, although I will carry a 300 win mag for muleys

As long as none of them are Savage bolt actions, you're good. Mega style points should your 243 happen to be a Savage 99 though.

I don't have any 88's, but I do have a couple of the Semi-auto version 100's in 308 and one in 284. When I see or think about 88's very long what I really lust after is a Sako FinnWolf though I doubt I'll ever buy one.
