Looking at a couple of options to replace the Minnkota fortrex on my boat I think I can get $600 out of it and looking to get a power drive v 1 or v 2 with copilot option the 70 or 74 lbs thrust model, what are the pros and cons of these models

ps. My boat that I'm putting it on is a 93 sylvan eliminator 17ft

Maybe its what you meant but why wouldnt you go for auto pilot if your upgrading?

+1

The terrovas are nice but I can't justify spending that much $ for one. I have a 70lb autopilot, v2 with the foot pedal on my 02 Lund pro angler 16. I had the same motor on my Yarcraft 1785 Millacs.

I fish two rods 80% of the time, so for me the foot pedal always gets used. I had a co-pilot for a while, but i had to set a rod down to adjust the trolling motor. They aren't for me.

As far as the v1, call around and check if parts are still readily available. They were good, but they are all over 10 years old. Technology has come a long way in that time span.

I think you'd be a lot happier with a model that has iPilot regardless of whether you go for a Powerdrive or a Terrova. There's a lot more functionality with the iPilot system. I switched from a copilot powerdrive to an ipilot terrova and it was a big improvement.

There is one big difference between powerdrive and terrova with ipilot. You can keep the foot pedal plugged in on a terrova and switch back and forth. For example, you could run the motor with foot pedal from the bow and have someone else with a remote take over seamlessly from the back of the boat while you land a fish.

This is a big week for you! New Marcum, new trolling motor. I'm jealous. Any other awesome purchases this week? I heard River City had specials on Ice Castles. You must have bought a couple of those too, right? Maybe 4 or 5 new augers?

Fellas, let me be real with you for a bit (sits down on backwards chair like the cool teacher in an 80's movie). I'm no expert, but I know bullshit when I see it (turns baseball hat around backwards, further assuring you I'm in touch with the hip youth). How many times are we going to fall for this clown's antics? He asks for input. We give it. Despite all the holes in his posts, we let it slide. We're better than this. I'm going to go out on a limb one more time and say Perchslayer is the same dude that's been spewing bs posts for the last couple months. I'm a firm believer in the smell test, and his posts smell like the inside of a pair of Striker bibs (a fine product by the way) after four hard days of fishing without a shower. He wanted a Marcum. I offered to sell him one, for dirt cheap, and lo and behold he already bought one. The Dirtiest of Mikes offers him cash for a trolling motor. Sight unseen. Oops, already gone. I could go on, but you see my concerns. If I'm wrong, apologies all around. But if I'm right, do us all a favor son. Log off and stick to the kiddie pool over in FBO town. Us grown folk are tired of your...hmm what's the word? Hey Farva, what's the name of that place you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozerella sticks? Ah yes. Shenanigans. We're tired of your shenanigans.

I'm all good on trolling motors, I just wanted perchslayer to prove he actually had something.
