It's not even April yet and the night crawlers were out in full force last night. I could of picked up a bunch in a one block stretch on my way to work this morning.

Scheels doesn't even have them yet I don't think. Apparently, they come from Canada. Who knew?

I was too tired to go look last night in Yates. It was raining for a while before dark. I like to catch my own since I live 12 miles from a store with bait. I like having a bunch of crawlers so that when the dinks or perch attack happens, I still have plenty. Some people give me crap, but at $3 a dozen, its saves a little cash, plus the 24 mile round trip. I tell them its like picking up quarters, would you pick up a quarter....thought so.

Box elder bugs made an appearance at my house 2 weeks ago already. Of course we don't get moisture here so the crawlers have yet to make a showing.

didn't have that much rain in Bismarck so didn't catch any. The first good rain of the spring is the best time usually get at least 15 to 20 dozen enough for the year just in my yard.

^^Same...only minnows/plastics so far, thinking these cool overnight lows gonna set back the bite a bit. We're camping on the east end for 5 days next week - prolly drive to the west end once or twice next week.

They were out pretty thick a couple weeks ago when we had that decent rain. Looked the last couple mornings and only saw a couple. All that heat must have driven them deep.

Not a crawler to be found after the rain.
$5/ doz = Hwy robbery
Wow $5 now. I think I paid $4 in Mobridge last week. I've saved a lot of $$ by catching my own over the past 30 years.

I suspect that if you're in the country, and haven't "seeded" your yard with crawlers, you might not find them because they're actually an invasive from Europe. Every town has them, but they're not common outside of town in many areas.

Pretty disappointed in what I found in the yard last night. They were out a lot thicker in April but didn't want to hold them for 2 months before I started using them (typically use minnows or cranks earlier) so didn't pick them.
