The last death I can think off down there was a dentist who was shooting his muzzle loader and had a hang fire and made the oh so wise decision to look down the barrel to see what went wrong.

So sad. Then the wait begins, you hope its not a friend or family member or something criminal. Ugh, nobody goes to the range or field expecting to die.

Its a young person sighting in gun with father. It was an accident. From what I heard anyway. Very sad.

Heard it was a high school aged girl and it was an accident. Prayers for the family and all those involved

Oh dear Lord, my heart bleeds for those involved.

Thankfully, I decided to stay home today and use my much more sheltered from the wind range today. Otherwise we'd have likely been there. Uggh....

I don't recall the details, but there was another shooting incident down there that included some shady actions. But I don't believe it resulted in a fatality.

Just looked it up to be sure and it was cop who found Mark Persson dead of a .50 caliber muzzle loader wound to the head at the Maclean bottoms gun range.

As for today thats about the worst possible scenario and you just have to hope it doesn't permanently mess up the kids!

One of the articles said there was no indication that she was doing anything she shouldn't have been. While on one hand I want to say who cares about the details that is for the family and officers, on the other it seems like knowing what exactly went wrong could be important as far as safety going forward. I guess they will let us know if we need to know or not. Horrible horrible deal.

Turns out I know her mother. Really a bad deal. I had bad feelings about this earlier today and it turns out that I was right. Totally depressing.

Sunday, I had a friend that was there when it happened and today I found out it was a family I know. I cant imagine trying to spend a day with my family and somthing like this happening.

To be honest I feel like I need to do somthing for the family but am unsure what to do. If anyone has any ideas or knows of any plans please let me know.

It might seem small and silly but one of the best things you can do is call the grocery store and have them send food. Sandwiches, rotisserie chicken and buns, chips, dips, salad, drinks and juices for kids, and plates and ware, whatever sorta premade things you can think of. These folks are going to be swamped with friends and family offering love and support and the last thing they need to deal with other than the nightmare in front of them is keeping everyone fed and cleaning up afterwards.
