Wouldn't keeping the mangy coyotes spread the mange to the other "good" coyotes... My understanding is stay the hell away from mangy coyotes....

Normally you would, but mange is caused by the mange mite so if the prices are high like they are now and the mange isn't too bad, all a guy has to do is drop the mangy one in a plastic bag with some insecticide that kills mites (say something for poultry) and you can still get some cash for the hide. It will just be rated as "damaged" but still might bring 20 bucks this year.

For the last 6 days he has been battling freezing rain that turned everything to mud. More of a Trappers nightmare.

Do some counties or states still have bounties? back in the mid 90's wilst pleasant hunting in central nebraska,little town of Broken Bow (feed mill)gave us $35/dog not skinned....one rancher had a pickup full used a wounded ferral cat as bait,hung the some beech in a gunnie sack on a fence pole so he said,we just whacked a few we jumped pushing birds from small canyouns.

Yes very good payday, He will be having his own Fur auction. Looking to sell up to 1600 Coyotes. And he will be auctioning off the trap for # 900 Coyote. The count is 908 and will be pulling traps on Thursday the 6th of Feb.

921 with three days left as of yesterday. As close as he is to 1,000 I think (if it was me) I'd be sticking it out a couple extra days just to hit that 1,000 mark and say I did it!
