BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT — The state’s open-carry law has again caused a stir, this time when a man wearing a holstered firearm walked into a downtown Subway restaurant and recorded an encounter with police on video.
Picked up Thursday by a number of websites, the video shows the viewpoint of the armed man, who is repeatedly asked by Bridgeport police officers to show them his gun permit.

The footage, said to have been recorded Monday, raises questions about the rights of permit holders to openly carry weapons — and about the rights of police to demand documentation.

man he was walking on thin ice telling that big ass cop he was headed for Dunkin Donuts. He could have gotten stampeded. That would be just like hollering fire in a crowded theater. They should have busted him for that and not the gun deal.

Eye I agree that he should of atleast been cited with disobeying a police officer, some kind of disruption of public business ( yes I don't know what it crime it is called). Law abiding citizens who want to obtain their second amendment rights and to comply by all rules regarding should of provided the officer with his permit.

While this guy was within his rights, he is one of those d-bags that goes out looking to stir things up. Get a permit and cover that thing up and quite wasting everyones time.

Dicks like this out looking for confrontations just make gun owners look bad to the general public. Show your permit along with some respect and everybody goes about their day.

I used to be on the fence about police brutality and profiling American citizens. it is news like this that really gets under my skin when people think we live in the 60s where let's stick it to the ones who did us wrong. This is 2016, we do live in that world anymore abide by the laws set forth by God and the Constitution. It is getting old people haven't even been through time of despair, which is coming soon to neighborhood near you. Lock the doors people and don't forget your tin foil hats. Ha

what permit was he asking for? couldn't of been a concealed weapons permit, he wasn't concealed. Do you need some kind of permit there to own a handgun?

Man, people wonder why cops get hardened and can seem unfriendly. This is a no win situation for cops. Ignore the call, let this guy go on his way and he shoots up Subway and the whole world comes down on you for walking away from a guy with a gun. Follow up on the call and this guy gives you a hard time and puts crap on YouTube. The guy is clearly out trying to cause trouble. From a pure legal standpoint he's probably right, I don't know the laws in Connecticut, but these people really do more harm than good for gun owners.

They are referred to as the authorities for a reason, do what the cop asks and go on your way.
I have been stopped by cops, game wardens, etc, never had an issue with any of them., even when I was in the wrong.

yep, this guy is a tool. although technically he is right, either way I would show ID, just so I wouldn't get shot. Now in po dunk N.D, and S.D. probably wouldn't have a problem. Think of game wardens there always walking up on people that have loaded guns

For a normal side arm like that I have absolutely no issue with this dude or what he did at all "other than the insults he threw out at the end' to me its the idiots who walk around carrying long guns and AR's just to be able to do it that should be wrapped up along side the head cause they are the ones causing the idiocy we see all over the place.

Devils advocate ........ so let them see your permit today and then tomorrow they will want to examine your weapon and then the day after that they will want to know how many weapons and how much ammo you have ....... just saying that one of the big reasons we have lost or have limited constitutional rights is the mind set of "let them get by with it today because its no big deal or you have nothing to hide so why not".
Not defending your constitutional rights at every challenge will and has lead to a slow deterioration of our constitutional rights. IMHO

Sometimes I wonder if these fubblenuts are working for the other side. Respect and courtesy go a long ways when dealing with anyone and these clowns have very little of either.

There is a time and place for open versus concealed and this should have been a concealed situation for sure but he did the correct thing in my mind by exercising his right not to produce an ID if he so chooses since he was legal in the first place and not causing any issues other than carrying open when he did not need to be.

By continually bowing down to "Authority" and having the attitude of why should I be involved it doesn't make any difference anyhow is how we have gotten to this sad state of political correctness we have now in this world.
