Open water fishing perch lakes

Has anyone ever tried going back to one of the random jumbo perch lakes/sloughs that pop up each winter in open water season? Thinking about trying it for kick and giggles this spring after ice out.

Best open-water perch size I've had is Ashtabula....

Used to get big perch on Darling trolling cranks, and Jumbo's in the mouse river in Minot on whatever bait we had under a bobber.
