I "helped" my daughter with a few cars, she didn't care about how fast it would go, so I let her design it all. I've still got the cars, one is shaped like a VW bug and one looks like Perry the Platypus. She didn't win the race, but won best looking cars. Only thing I did was help with the band saw as she was a bit too young to do that. I agree with your statement, not about winning but having fun.Let your kid do most of the build/paint job and race.
