I was able to watch from my office window as it was trapped by JC Penny's loading dock, then took off and followed the mall around by the Grizzly's entrance and Targets entrance and ran across 7th St and then behind the police station. It was pretty funny watching people scatter as a Bull Moose ran by. I'm sure people walking out of Target were like WTF! It was neat!

As it was laying by the loading dock that darn thing was shakin' like a frozen mutt..... Let the thing relax a bit and then tranquilize it. Don't help the young bull get riled up and say "we were concerned about taking it down with a tranquilizer"..... *rolls eyes*

Young animals get stressed out fairly easily. Hope they can use some common sense in dealing with him. As Dean said, nice to not shoot him like Fargo does.

Police went on a wild moose chase in Bismarck today.
Around three o'clock this afternoon a moose wandered into the Kirkwood Mall parking lot near Target.

It's was all the talk in town, and on social media...

But moose can be dangerous...you can see here it didn't like our camera much.

Police say tranquilizing the animal was not an option.
They feared the moose would get agitated and did not know how long the it would take for the tranquilizer to take affect.
So they tried to take it down, but our reporters say it got away.
According to Animal Control officers the Moose is still on the loose.
No word on where he is now.
Animal control officers added we are weeks away from moose season..So today's sighting -- kind of a rarity...

According to this article they had plans to shoot it.

what else are you supposed to do with a giant, half blind, scared, disorientated animal in town? I vote shoot, every time.

Good thing they don't do that with deer. This aint the first moose in bismarck and the cops have gotten pretty good at letting them work it out on their own without killing them. They let them go until the moose leaves or ends up in a spot where life and limb are in danger and they are forced to take it down. Last report I saw it was up on the capital grounds.

You would have thought they would have done that last night. Probably can't since the second they start pushing it they probably become liable if someone gets hurt or something.

I'm pretty sure I saw that moose about 3:30 pm along hwy 46 a mile from marion,nd today. I'm really kickin myself for not stopping and taking a pic... I forgot about the Bismarck story until after I got home and seen a update on the story from a Bismarck channel. he sure looks like the one I seen 50 yards off the highway, clearly had a rack but nothing to brag about and not a huge body.
