Was down on the rock this morning and one of the towns I like to hunt got burnt up in the fire Sunday. Just wondering if anyone knows how they do in situations like this. Would have to think with such strong wind that some of the smoke must have been forced down into the holes. One way or the other they are out of new food till spring.

Seeing as how they evolved on the prairie, and fire is a necessary component of a healthy prairie environment.
I expect that they will do just fine. Still time to get new growth if we get just a little rain.

Out of food till spring?? I believe they store food like all the other rodents, but I could be wrong. Plus, if fire worked to starve off dogs, they would have used it long ago to rid themselves of them. It'll turn green with just a little moisture in no time, plus the roots are just fine, they dig them up and eat them all the time.

Trust me, they will all be fine. I wonder whats it like to be in a hole with a fire going over it though.
