Do you want it to add warmth and keep you dry or just keep you dry? I prefer a rain suit that doesn't add warmth, I can control that with my other clothes and don't want to roast when it's 80 degrees but raining.

Interesting DM. When I separated from the Navy, I didn't have to turn any personal gear in. The only thing close was the sleep system I used in Afghanistan. Even that gave me the willies. Lots of my skin touched that sleep system in the 7 months I had it. Not that I didn't keep clean, but Afghanistan wasn't cold when I was there. I wouldn't want to sleep in a re-issued sleep system or any other gear that came in contact with someone elses skin on a regular basis. (Yuck) Maybe they now say rain gear isn't personal gear or an outer garment to save money. ;:;barf

I'm more upset I didn't get to keep the foul weather jacket and float coat. Pretty positive I could have attached a 25 hp motor to that float coat when inflated. No chance of going under with that thing. Makes one hell of a pop too. The foul weather jacket would be ideal wear if one was to climb Everest.

Devils.lake just got rain and snow this week already and is in the forecast in the future. What really sucks is the cold freezing nights we have had for the past couple weeks

I've been looking for that northface jacket all over the internets. If I find it, they want the soul of my first born. And you find it on the sale rack.

Haha, I found it again, in Minneapolis a few weeks ago, on the sale rack at REI.

I should just give it to you. I got all the poo off the back end.

hahaha, wow. review first, THEN post...
To be fair, the relationship would be the kind where the guy driving the new tiller, on a darn windy and cold day, didn't have any rain gear, so the other guy said "here, take mine". (a short glance of admiration and fondness may have crossed his face...)

Thanks Ahab. Ordered bibs from web site you showed but jackets were all sold out at Cabelas. Found jacket on another site for $239. Must be a discontinued product because most were all sold out.

The line is not discontinued, but those colors are. I love the jacket so far. The jury is still out on the bibs. A large was great for length, but was tight on my gut. I bought them from Cabelas so I just zipped them back with the return tag for the XL. They feel good, but are a hair long in the leg. The thing I like about Simms is that if there is ever an issue, they will take care of it. Customer service is excellent. Good luck!

Yeah when I got out, I got to keep clothing stuff like gloves, hats, random shit like that, but they took all the useful stuff like the goretex...although I think I have a field jacket hanging around somewhere that they missed.
