Reef Runner's "Tune-A-Fish" tool is IMO the easiest tool to use. You bend the loop in the lip in the opposite direction of the crank's deviation from straight.

Very small adjustments. it very easy to over correct and have it run wild the other direction.
Ive found my new flicker shads run just as true as my newer raps. raps have gone downhill imo

Hate to break it to ya but if you have been fishing deep enough to run reef runners the last month u missed the bite.

I suppose you think reef runner only makes deep divers:;:howdy

The only rapalas I use now are what I bought several years ago. Prices and quality are headed in opposite directions. I have always liked the reef runner colors and action for trolling. Said alot when Rapala came out with the tail dancer, which to me is just a knock off of the reef runner. If you keep an eye open you can get some good deals on Reef Runnners..... I am out of rip sticks but the saugers smacked deep little rippers run in 6 -10 last night.

The Cabelas imitation Reef Runners (Walleye Runners) run far more true than do original reef runners. I have yet to have one of them in the reef runner or little ripper size that didn't run true out of the package.

you certainly could
Haha i will have to buy some shallow runners and give em a whirl.

I really think the new rapala balsa cranks have a different glue that isnt holding up and allows the water to permeate the balsa wood rendering them weaker. They appear to have a "glossier" apperance to them too compared to some of my older ones.

Salmos cranks are my favorite trolling cranks along with luhr jensen power dive minnows. I strictly use raps for shallow water carpet bombing and they cant be beaten in my world.

I have never had a reef runner need tuned new in the box. Maybe I have not bought enough.... they are designed to shift side to side and not run dead straight all the time.

Thats exactly it, i do not want that much action in the early seasonal bite.

I have never fished Erie. I rarely use bombers but have caught some big fish on long A's before. I prefer luhr jensen over the bombers.

If it was a drinking competition I would think that Ireland would make a fine product.
Maybe fishing IS their thing.

last four years --- revenue slipping in 2014 -- but cogs as a % runs about the same. They probably allocated more of the ceo's pay (a boomer) into cogs

I have had new out of the box Reef Runners be so out of tune, they wouldn't stay in the water. There is a reason, IMO, that the tool to tune cranks is made by RR. But I will say that last year and this year I have had all RR run straight out of the box.

Have tons of crank baits but never bought reef runners until yesterday
Have stayed away from them because I heard that they are not tuned out of the box. Got six of the 200 series rip shads. Took them to the East End of Sak and wouldn't you know it, the two we tied on were both running cockeyed ;:;banghead One to the left and one to the right. Small tweaks with small needle nose pliers, and they were both running perfect after trial and error. Those little turds sure do dig deep. Hitting bottom at 15 ft with 110 ft of 10 lb fireline out.
