This. I buy $50 reels from Scheels and if I get 2-3yrs out of them, I'm winning. Same with rods. Im not responsible enough to own $300 St. Croix (however its spelled) rods. I'll take to $50 Scheels Outfitter rods all day long. I can still slam walleyes like a boss with these setups.I fix my reels by throwing them away and getting a new one from Walmart.
Every time I ever caught a fish big enough to peel drag off a zebco the drag would lock up and snap my line. You must have had better zebcos then me. Lol. Then again that was 40 years agoI like my old zebcos, dunk them in the water once in a while and they work like new. Theres nothing like the sound of a fish peeling line off a zebco.
lol, nope just better line , every year you have to strip a few feet off and dunk it in the water before you start fishing.Every time I ever caught a fish big enough to peel drag off a zebco the drag would lock up and snap my line. You must have had better zebcos then me. Lol. Then again that was 40 years ago
Have wondered what ever happened to all the used reels & parts he stored upstairs at the store. He had a ton of reels and parts and was great at finding the exact part needed. He repaired an old Pflueger open face reel that had belonged to my dad and the total charge was around $10. Good ol' days indeed! The good ol’ days was when old Henry was the reel repair guy at Sioux Sporting Goods.
