I've not tried Tibor, Ross, Abel, or Hatch reels. Japan production Shimano is still significantly superior to anything made in China or anywhere else in the Pacific Rim/Asia, especially for long-term durability with little to no maintenance. Non-Japan production Shimano is right in the same class as everything else made anywhere in Asia outside Japan.
If you're going to do your own, it's ~$4-$15 for a small magnetic parts bowl to a larger square or rectangle parts bin.
Or, you could spend about $40 for a magnetized electronics repair mat:

The bins or the mats will at least keep all the parts in one place. Whether or not you have parts left-over when you've completed re-assembly is another story....
