Is it just me, or does it seem like it's taking a long time for the river to clean up this year? I know we had a bunch of snow this year, but seems like it's all but melted except for areas where it really drifted in. Seems like it should be starting to clear up by now. Maybe I'm just really impatient.

I think everyone is used to the past 5 years of no snow and no runoff, As soon the river opened it was clear and fish-able. Is it still completely muddy? i haven't looked in a few days.

I've only been around a handful of years, but in looking back, I believe it was 2009 or 10, the first time I fished the river due to dirty water and a late spring was April 21. So I don't think this is too abnormal. Lots coming from the Knife and Apple?

For starters it's murky but certainly not chocolate milk either. Was down at Apple creek bottoms yesterday and the creek was definitely up a few feet and until the creeks get done dumping it's going to stay cloudy. Nothing else get above the majority of the creeks and rivers and that should clear things up a bit.

Releases are going up as we speak and that will delay clearing up some.

Releases going up should help the clarity. That will be more clear lake water entering the river.

6-8" visibility with polarized sunglasses at Hazelton, I agree that the increase in releases from the damn is a major factor in the poor clarity.

6 inches is good visibility for anyone that has ever fished the red.

Yeah its murky but certainly not overly bad compared to what it could be. Fish will get used to it and keep on feeding up for spawn. it's just going to be a touch harder for them to spot the bait compared to three foot vis.
