Anyone been getting any mounts back from here? Does anyone know Rick personally, is everything ok. I've had 4 birds there for 4.5 years now and I got one of the 5 total back is all and that was last year. He used to do really well on returning calls and emails but his voicemail is full and I haven't heard from him in 6 months. It's tough because it's two eiders and a black suck so not something that is real easy to get around here and I paid a lot for the trip to bring back some trophies. The fourth is a nice bull canvasback which is do able around here but not the easiest. I'm getting alittle worried that the birds will still be worthwhile or if they are completely gone. Not trying to bash him here as the mount I got back looks good but this is getting me really nervous and starting to get angry.

those birds got serious freezer burn 4.5 years maybe still mountable not sure. I hope you didn't put a big deposit on them. I myself would drive to his business and find out whats up if you want any hope for a mount.

Rick is one of the best in the business...but he's also one of the slowest (I suppose having a day job as a radio personality doesn't leave a lot of time to stuff ducks). A buddy of mine had to finally just said "send me back the birds, I'm going somewhere else" and suddenly they were finished.

Might want to try that approach, otherwise may I suggest Sportsmans Taxidermy in EGF. They're probably at the same price point as Rick, and just as good. Museum quality stuff.

Ya know, he was posting fairly regularly on his Facebook page up until March, and then just stopped. Hope he's OK.

He does the best job out there but if you expect to get a bird back in under a year I would go somewhere else, let alone 5 birds. Historically if you put pressure on him he will expedite yours but I can see how he has fallen so far behind while doing it part time. I'll have to check out nodakoutdoors to see if he has been posting there ( only plainsman and classified are posting there)

my bros in the same boat. this is a guy who has done 2 for me, 3-4 birds for my older brother. my younger bro shot a giant Canada/speck cross or more likely a giant Canada/farm bird cross with orange feet and bill and all. this was 3 years ago. we have tried calling, texting, emailing, and facebook messages and to no avail. he has cashed our deposited check and haven't heard a thing from him. last I know my brother was talking to the local attorney and the BBB.

I would seriously never bring a bird to this man again. hes does great work but his communication is worse than dog shit, and as a business owner he needs to do better.

try birdman studios out of Colorado, its a pain to ship birds but does just as good or better work and is not a crook

The Brant that I received back looks excellent and I knew I wasn't going to get them back in a year but when I took them in I was told around 18 months then he had some health issues and then told two years. Right now I just want the birds mounted and to look as good as they would have originally as they were truly trophies to me that I'll never get again probably. I know he's got family activities and a job to eat up a lot of his time but I just hope the birds are not lost.

he told us he tore his ACL....ironically I work with patients like this on a daily basis. generally these people are walking normally, without issues by 4weeks, 6 weeks if the meiniscus was repaired...don't fall for that BS

rant over, sorry just very frustrated with him

Luckily I've never dealt with him, but I've always thought his bird poses were kind of weird and unnatural.

Just looked. Apparently he hasn't been on NDO since August 2015.

I would be making a drive to get my birds back.

weve tried to get ahold of him to do that but he wont respond. i know i could just show up at his door and ask for it back and eventually itll prolly come to that unfortunately.

I'm in the same situation. He has one of my birds and its been 4.5 years now. He does good work but impossible to get ahold of and he has told me about 4 different times that he would have my bird done and he has never called to schedule a pick up or had it done. It's really frustrating. He cashed my deposit long, long ago and i'm just hoping he actually comes through this time and my bird isn't ruined.

has any one ever had this many issues with a taxidermist before? I think we are all grown men and understand shit happens in life for better or worse, but god dam why cant he pick up a phone, drop a text, email, put something on his facebook page, his internet site something for god sakes hes running a business and I cant speak for all of us but the vasy majority are sick of him and his piss poor communication.

Nevada miller took quite awhile for my borthers deer but heres the difference he regulary called with updates and would accept payment until the deer was done..thats a professional not sure what rick is but its not that.

Add another to the wait list... its been all of 4 years at least for just a standard greenhead and a VERY barred up speck were dropped off. Not a word or contact about anything regarding those two birds. Very frustrating...
