am i looking at that picture right in the link above? the wood isn't even sitting on concrete?

seems like even a sump pump failure or two would eff things up nicely (soak things real good - taking forever to "dry out")

I hate basements. I'm a slab or crawl space guy. I have never known somebody with a basement in my area that hasn't had a "mishap" with a sump or other issue or a "problem" due to an adverse weather event.(A walkout basement is a different story as they are usually built into a hill or have fill moved in to build up. I'm fine with those.)

ha ha ha - my house had a gorgeous walkout looking down onto the Red River back in the day...
