I get my minnows from a flowing spring at a gravel pit all winter long and im tired of my trap growing legs. If I had a smelt net with a 5ft or so long handle I'd be able to scoop and go with out messing with a trap. I see their on the internet but curious if minot stores have them because I looked in scheels but no luck. Thanks

Put your name on your net and a trail camera? Thief’s are the lowest of the low human beings in my opinion. I bet you would gladly give them enough minnows to fish the entire winter.. no need to steal. This breaks my heart

Just make a handle out of a stair railing. Would be easy to do. Just be smarter than the net.

You might be able to tie your trap line to a weight or railroad spike or something and throw the retrieval line offshore a bit and then when you come to get minnows, bring a rod or something like that to snag the line and drag in it. Essentially use a standard trap but make it so you cant retrieve it from shore without a tool of some sort and hopefully not even be able to see it from shore. People are less likely to wade in for a trap than they are to just steal it without getting wet, even if they can see it.
