I don't know much about the area you are talking about but could the holes be fish nests from previous years?

it is possible but the water doesn't fluctuate much. The refuge keeps a constant level for nesting birds

I have a hds 7 gen 2 touch. Im pretty happy with it just wish it had a bigger screen but that is a big price jump.

Saw this on another site. Big ones are bass small blue gill. Our Temps are way to cold right now but maybe they are hold overs from last year.

I have seen this before and guessed that there is an upwelling groundwater feature (known to neanderthals as a "spring") that is jetting up out of narrow fissures in the strata and this displaces the soft flocculent sediments and this creates these craters.

But there should be a "rim" around each one if that's the case?... so not sure my theory holds water.

Holds water... hee hee.
