Sap really took off again. Have to boil off a 120 qt cooler full this time.

Added a siphon between pans and a kludged pre-heater to help me maintain a rolling boil to beat the coming storm (7-12” forecast for little minneapolis tonight).

sorta - but I felt it w bare hand first hour or two and it never got past a scorching summer sun temp

had I observed signs of degradation I would have put some sort of panels in place to block the IR radiation

oh - also, there are fire bricks lining the bottom 1/3 of the barrel - and an old deformed wood burning fireplace rack to lay wood on

Snow is about 6 inches deep on top of the fence post in the back yard and still coming down a little. LB

8 inches here but a lot melted and settled if it was 5 degrees colder would have had a foot. We needed this bad

Shoveled 6 inches off the deck at 3 yesterday. That or more on it now.
