Sap really took off again. Have to boil off a 120 qt cooler full this time.

Added a siphon between pans and a kludged pre-heater to help me maintain a rolling boil to beat the coming storm (7-12” forecast for little minneapolis tonight).

sorta - but I felt it w bare hand first hour or two and it never got past a scorching summer sun temp

had I observed signs of degradation I would have put some sort of panels in place to block the IR radiation

oh - also, there are fire bricks lining the bottom 1/3 of the barrel - and an old deformed wood burning fireplace rack to lay wood on

I-94 westbound near Medina is CLOSED. Expect more potential closures. 4/4/26 @ 9:45AM
The roadway is blocked by commercial motor vehicles and passenger vehicles. Plows and wreckers are unable to reach the area due to stranded traffic.
Troopers have been pushing through heavy snow to reach stranded motorists. Those currently stranded may not be able to be reached by emergency responders for an undetermined amount of time.
Please stay home if you are in impacted areas. It is illegal to travel on closed roads, and travel is strongly discouraged in No Travel Advisory areas. Check the NDRoads app for up-to-date travel information.
Expect continued impacts across southern North Dakota, primarily in the southeastern portion of the state.
