Standing Desks

My office is going to be switching to them. I'm not that excited about it because we will lose a decent amount of desk space and some privacy. It will be nice to stand once in a while though.

All the hunched over dudes with big guts used to make fun of mine at first back when I had a desk job. I had a Varidesk that was awesome. Could stand and work or lower it and sit. Which came in handy after a night of pounding booze at DH Customs headquarters. The mat was a Varidesk as well. Do you have enough hair for a man bun?

I have a varidesk. I love it. Something about working at a desk most days bothers me already, let alone sitting on my ass. At least being able to stand occasionally, for longer periods of time, makes me feel like my balls are dropping again.

We have a couple standing workstations in the office, they tend to be well used by our rotating shift workers.

My full-time desk is normal height, but there are days I'll spend at one of the standing stations and while I'm not as excited about them as some are...I don't mind them either. It's a good change of pace.

I know I fill out a bunch of requests for them. I've never used one though. I'm not a my desk long enough to get real comfortable anyway.

For Anti fatigue mat, I prefer lazy boy or select number. Sorry, I know, not helping.

Just realize that although standing is better than sitting, prolonged standing still causes its own problems. From what I've read, you should be switching between standing and sitting every half hour. Make sure any desk you get is easily switched between the different positions.

The newest thing is now treadmill desks. I think that's a little overboard.

LOL, I saw some treadmill workstations when I visited Tuscaloosa a couple years ago. The new trend in office space is really strange compared to what we "grew up with". Treadmills with laptops, work areas that looked like the coffee shop on Friends, etc, etc. Weird...

Oh yeah, my preferred anti-fatique mat is one of them mats you are supposed to use under a treadmill, elliptical, or other piece of home furniture. They provide a little cushion but aren't too excessive, like some of the thicker mats out there. Cost about $50.

We are starting to get a few around our office but I don't have one. The ones we have just have a switch to raise/lower so you can easily switch back and forth. I'd like to get one but I don't know if my office layout would work very well with it because of my cabinets above my desk.

I cant do the standing desk due to my back, but have been trying to get my supervisor to approve one of these to help fight muscle fatigue

I have a Veridesk. It takes up a lot of space but I like standing and working. It also elevates my screens while I'm sitting which is more comfortable as well.

For employees that need them we also purchase the Vari-Desk. They run mid $350 range, but they work great. They're a high quality product. They raise and lower with ease (even with stuff o them) and with most of our employees being female that's a must. Most people who have the Vari-Desk will go between standing and sitting. Those who use them say they really help their backs. Vari-Desk is by far the best built and most practical of the products
we've tried.

We have a couple users of the Vari-Desk style like shown, they are good for up to a couple monitors. But our community work stations
have 5 monitors and a couple keyboards. So they are either electrically raised and lowered, or they are static. I tend to use the static one. Mostly because it's closer to my desk area where I keep reference material.

note: you can get monitor mounts that remove the stands, it helps for getting them set the way you want and are easy to move in case you need to do that to show people the dumb stuff on the web without having them look over your shoulder.
