NWS has bismarck listed as 3.25 which falls between tea cup and softball! Down on the south side I got all of about four pieces of hail that were pea sized and that was it. The hail in north bismarck was pushed by winds to 70 as well so it's going to be a mess. For those of us that didn't get the hail it was one hell of a light show at 4:30 in the morning!

Live NE Bismarck north of the new county shop a few miles and we had approx. tennis ball size hail. 2" in diameter. west side of the house is beat up. cheap ass vinyl siding. didn't lose any windows. neighbor lost 3 west facing ones. haven't checked my roof/shingles yet. look okay from the ground

Up in NW Bismarck the west side of most houses have holes in siding. I live up by Horizon and my house is beat to hell along with all my neighbors. Thankfully the big ones were the first few and then when it really started coming down they were more marble size but with the wind still did damage. My coworker had a baseball size one come through both panes on her house window.

I live about 2 blocks west of Horizon and I didnt find any damage to my vinyl siding. I'll have to check closer I guess. My awesome tomato plants were destroyed though. Glad I'm not a farmer. I really hate it when a handful of plants gets destroyed. I wouldn't be able to sleep if my income depended on plants.

NE Bismarck by Sunrise had at least tennis ball size hail. My siding is toast about to climb up on the roof and see that damage.

Saw a few large pieces of hail lying in the yard, but wasn't about to run out and get them.

I really hate it when a handful of plants gets destroyed. I wouldn't be able to sleep if my income depended on plants.

Oh if you have your crop insured the white combine is often your friend. This is especially true in low price years since you get much of the value of the crop but none of the fuel and machine maintenance costs.

Insurance companies, home improvement contractors and body shops are all going to be busy for a few months now. Less money in our pockets after the deductibles.

I had remnants of hail laying in the grass and against my garage door at 7:15am, almost three hours after the storm had passed. I have no idea what the size had to be for that not to melt in that amount of time.

Most of what I received against the west side (came at eastern-facing slant with 60mph winds) was mostly marble, ping pong, and golf ball sized hail. The sound was like a war zone. As I stood near the living room window I couldn't imaging how that glass would withstand the repetitive impact. It even made me flinch a few times!

Somehow I'm sensing a wipeout on the siding and shingle supply once again. Same thing happened back in the 2000 hail storm in Bismarck. It took three to four years for some people to get shingles replaced because they couldn't be manufactured fast enough.

I wonder how MANY homes will have claims with insurance companies once again...

i too did that and my wife goes, you think you should be standing there...i said well i suppose not but just kept watching. it looked like a driving range with 100's of golfers teeing off into my yard.

Anyone every watch myth busters? Dimples objects have better aero dynamics. You should be getting better fuel mileage with your mother nature altered vehicle. (unless it took our your window which would increase drag.)

If you don't have obvious holes I'm willing to bet you have cracks. Some houses did better than others though. I assume depending on siding quality. I have holes, many others do to.

had a stone roll up to my door that measured 2". there were plenty that were quite a bit bigger that i didnt have the balls to run out and grab. golf ball to tennis ball is accurate. at least 3 sides of my house are toast as well as my brand new decoy trailer

I live in central Bismarck and had golf ball sized to tennis ball sized come down in my area along with a swath of pea to marble sized hail. Thankfully there wasn't a large number of the larger sized ones, but man when they came down it sounded like they were coming right through the roof and our bedroom is located in the basement. My poor oldest daughter sleeps on the top of a bunk bed, needless to say she was quite startled. So had 2 of the 3 kids up from 4:30 on which is never a good way to start the workday off. I haven't had a chance to assess the damage, but no broken windows and didn't notice any holes in the siding. I am sure my garden is a bust, but hopefully that is the extent of the damage. Thankful that it wasn't as bad as some experienced, but still the largest hail I have ever seen.

I live 3 miles south of Lincoln and got lucky, I couldn't find any damage other than a broken tomato plant. My neighbor has several holes in his siding. A friend that lives in the NE side of Bismarck has about $500 hail damage to his pickup and about $1000 to his RV, he also has damage to the shingles on the roof of his place.

NW Bismarck. Had pea to baseball sized hail. West side of house, vinyl siding is shot, gutters and down spouts too, and the roof. Neighbor is a contractor and went up on a dozen roofs and the shingles are totaled he said. Now to see how bad we take it with the insurance company. First claim ever and bet our rates go sky high afterwards.
