Anyone checked out the Jiffy battery auger?

Wondering the same. I bought a wheel house this year so I'm in the market for a new electric auger. I'm always hesitant to buy a new product the first year it comes out but I'd like to get my hands on one before I pick a strikemaster/ion.

Buy an Eskimo 8" hand auger for $50. Then get the Kovac drill adapter for $25. Use your existing drill or buy a good one. Can use that all year. Works like a charm. I'm not sold on those overpriced k-drill or ion strike master Chinese junk. Gas is always my go to when the ice gets thick.

10 inch k-drill On an Eskimo 2 stroke works well. Kluge blades are made of tool steel and can take a hell of a beating and can be re-sharpened. I’m not a fan of electric drills as I drill to many holes.

I have run kluge blades into a frozen lake bottom and was able to sharpen them.

The Strikemaster Lithium will cut ALOT of holes on a charge. I haven’t needed to use the extra battery on one outing yet. Shaver blades apparenty are horrible out west. Haven’t had a problem at LOW or Devils so far. Ruined a set on the Red though.

Good info. The blades are my hesitation on the Strikemaster but LOW, DL and Stump are all I really fish.

In my world strikemaster means dull blades and terrible running motors that are slow.

And throttles that break and are garbage

Electric Enslow!! Drill baby drill. Super fast and super light weight. We can have a drill off this winter. After a bottle of fire water and a limit of fat pigs

In Ahab’s world, ALOT means more than one (like 2). He’s used to pulling pig Walters out on the first punch.

Funny, I went through 3 Jiffy’s thinking the same thing. Junk augers that spin the wrong way and throw way too much damn ice.

Where in the world did you find a 10” k drill?

I got the drills from the owner Doug kluge. He designs very specialized equipment for commercial use. He even has a 12 inch drill.

Do they still make those older style drills, or did they just switch to the new 6-8" k-drill meant for the Milwaukee's? I know you used to be able to buy an actual gas auger from them, but even 10 years ago it was like $1200. I don't see anything online anymore other than the new k-drills.

I have a Tanaka powerhead with a K-Drill 8 inch. I love the combo. I had an Ion and felt it was barely OK. Love the current combo. Had to have a custom adaptor made which cost me about $20.

I came to this conclusion after I was on set number 3 in the same day. Most amazing thing about that day was that I had 2 extra sets with.

Interesting. I'm still on my original set and they still cut pretty good (5-6 years). I don't ice fish that much though so it hasn't drilled a ton holes. Maybe the lakes I'm on don't have as much sand in the ice. I have taken the blades off and taken a little emery cloth to the back side. The edge will roll over a little and I very lightly use the emery cloth to remove the burr.
