Sawyer,
Just a heads up to everyone, if you’re in the market this year for a strikemaster lithium, I’d get after it immediately. I noticed Cabela’s raised their price today about 200 bucks on them. I know a big part of the price hike is, starting in 2019 all products made in China will be seeing a 30% ish price hike and with Strikemaster limiting their production to 1000 of each size, everyone will sell out again this year probably pretty quick. Locally, Scheels and The Outfitters in Minot have left their prices down. Also I noticed Thorne Bros still has the lower price.

Long story short, you can still get one at the original price, but I’d expect other merchants will follow Cabela’s lead so get after it if you want one.

Cabelas has always kinda sucked for ice fishing stuff, they always seem to be priced high. I always check Reeds first, I bought my last Honda Auger and Otter house from them at steep discounts.

Sawyer,
Yeah I’m not saying Cabela’s had the best price. Just saying their price just jumped a few hundred bucks.

L&M supply is worth checking out. I only bought one thing from there, but to get a brand new clam pop-up for $120 cheaper than anywhere else made it a no brainer for me.

Yep, Reed's is great. However Cabela's price this morning is $549.99, or $599.99 with an extra battery (8 in.) so I am not sure about the $200 price jump?

If the jiffy still works, keep that for the occasional really thick ice, and then get the Milwaukee/K-drill combo for a light weight side kick.

yeah I was planning on it. Local dealer said that my old one (white head) is still actually worth money. The yellow heads aren't. Will the K drill get you through most of the season? 24-30in ice??

I haven't personally used the K-drill but i think you would be good to 24", after that it may be jiffy time. It kind of depends how many holes you want to drill though, you are basically just limited by the battery.

Depends...........IME & IMO, the K-drill is great for ice up to around 20”. Over 20” I’ll use the k-drill if I’m going to punch a handful of holes. If I’m Swiss cheesing a lake, the gas gets the nod. I always have the K-drill along for backup if SHTF.

If I was going to an electric auger it would be to reduce the weight of what I already use. The strikemaster and ion are good but you don’t save very much weight over a gas auger. I would get a k drill to save my back went drilling a ton of holes. Milwaukee k drill combo with 3 batteries on sale at Reeds for just over $500.

I would rather sprinkle salt in my eye than deal with strike master blades.
