Aggrevation, (trouble is another version of this ancient game). Chinese checkers was another good game. Both simple to play.

Our house we play for money, if your kids are old enough to understand how the card count works in the same suit, let them try.
Good learning experience for them and they get hooked to play more often. We play every thanksgiving and christmas with about 8- 10 people in the group, we can only get 1 complete game in because of the time limits with everyone having to leave and go to other relatives. I boycotted the game thanksgiving due to my losing streak....lol

Mario Party is a video board game for the Switch. I enjoy this with the Twinions. There's also a plethora of JackBox games for the Switch. You can even use your smartphone as a controller. We've done a few virtual game nights with family who live on the opposite side of the country.

I was always after my dad to teach me how to play poker in my early teens. He always told me it’s not a good game to play. I kept nagging him and one day he had enough of my whining and we sat down to teach poker. He cleaned me out of my coffee can of change and that was the end of that. I don’t play poker again until my mid twenties.

For the older ones I like Cribbage and Pinochle. You need some Math skills in both and recognizing patterns and combinations. Also need to do Math without a calculator.

Does anyone play nim ? There are a few different versions but we play 1-3-5-7 . I played it a lot with our boys when they were growing up and now play against our older grand kids. It's frustrating to learn and fun to teach.

52 pickup is never not funny. Sort of a “one-and-done” type affair though.
