Got a new ice house and a vexilar in the offseason... a guy can only fill up his time with side projects before losing his mind. I am so ready for ice fishing it's not even funny!

Won a FLX-28 last spring (after i was too chicken to go on the ice) and picking up a Nanook on Saturday. Figured if I have a vexilar now i better go the more portable sled route vs the hub route. :) Got my DL tickets, got my lakes near me mapped out, built a few smitty sleds, cleaned-up/fired-up the big buddy. Running out things to do. lol.

the itch to take off from work and go fishing on Friday is unbearable. The hell with ice fishing -- enjoy the season. They are never this great. The ice will come and then the dreaded 3 weeks in January will come with the wind blowing like hell - then I will look for the souls that want to go ice fishing now and they will be huddled up in the garage talking about open water season again --- and I will be freezing my blls off in my portable.

Thats why I picked up my own portable this year, my father-in-law is the fair weather fisherman - little cold never hurt my feelings so now I have no excuses. I had shit luck fishing this year - cleaned up my stuff a few weeks ago and put it away - just wasn't my year i guess - that and I didn't have a lot of time to go anyway.

Yeah now that I've been pheasant hunting for the past month and don't have a deer tag, i'm ready to hit the ice. Don't get me wrong i'm looking forward to relaxing and tinkering for the next month but i have been looking at ice rods and lures like crazy lately. I have a Helix 7 showing up today to mount to my ATV, that will probably be my weekend project. Scored a bunch of tungsten jigs at walmart for $1 last night, $30 worth of jigs for $10! Now i need to decide on a rod for the tungsten, narrowed down to DH Al dente, TUCR precision noodle/bullwhip, St Croix Avid Glass....Hmm

Nice find bfishn on the tungsten.

Im basically jacked for ice. Watching youtube vids. Prepping equipment. Dropping dimes on ebay.

Building a permanent. Added a clam x2. Added a 2nd ice auger. Added a 2nd big buddy. Runners. Hitches. Converting elite 7 into a 2nd sonar n gps unit. Still searching for a cheap tilt bed trailer.

I cant wait.

There are still fish to be caught right now. It's been a tough fall in the river, but might be approaching a tipping point.

The weather was super nice last night.

I look forward to early ice on the Wilcraft and then want to fast forward Jan 15 to April 1st.
