Tipping is getting out of hand

Looks like cities are already looking at new revenue streams.

Starting today, when citizens are pulled over by our Officers, you will be presented with an optional tipping screen.
If you’ve enjoyed the service you received during your traffic stop, you’ll have the option of using a credit card to tip that Officer up to 25 percent of the cost of your traffic citation.

I wonder how many restaurants actually pay a decent wage? They sure didn't in the past.

For me it somewhat depends how expensive the food is.

If food and service are good and food is a decent price I tip 15-20%

If food is expensive I'm at 10%

I agree with this. Small authentic Mexican food joint here in the east has great food, better service, and my lunch bill is $7 for the entire meal and drink. I usually tip the price of the meal at that point - almost can't get McD's for the $14 bill I incur.

I average $5+ tip most times and that normally gets me to 15% lately, I don't eat out much and when I have been I'm by myself. It doesn't take much to get 15% out of me and 20% is a real possibility with decent service and good food.

A good friend manages a restaurant and like a lot of places, they have a heck of a time with staffing. I travel for work and have for almost 25yrs, I traveled a lot even during covid.

I tip fairly generously as a result of the 2 statements above. I’m appreciative of having choices again vs. CV-19 time. If I sit down and have a meal brought out to me or have something delivered, they get a tip. That said, I’m probably not tipping when I drive through, walk in and pick up an online/phone in order.

The waitresses at our club average over $50 an hour with tips. Paying a higher hourly wage and not tipping would devastate these girls wages.

Yes, most better places a person eat's in and the good bars make very good money the waitress. Good for them. They will have a tip chair everywhere soon getting crazy, in bathrooms next.

Some restaurants make all the waitresses split the tips evenly amongst all personal even the hostess get some of the tip money.
