Tips & Tricks for early season boat fishing

As a general rule I hit the Missouri River early, then move to my main stomping grounds in the Van Hook area. My steadfast rule is that I do not fish an area unless I mark fish on the electronics.

What are your tips/tricks for the early boat fishing season.

Pour RV antifreeze in plumbing of boat while on the road unable to park inside during the night. We were launching the boat at 26* in the morning.

As far as fishing... Slow slow and slow.
