Tires "AGAIN"

04 Chevy Duramax 275/16
Cannot keep tires on this thing.
114,300 miles , have had 2 sets of BFG ko, and on a set of Firestone Destination that have about 19k that are about 2/3 shot. I swap out and put wheel/ tire combo on for summer time, so the others are only doing about 30k/yr fall and winter.
I rotate religiously and check pressure frequently. Wheel alignments also. Any other tire recommendations ( other than sell truck) ?

A good tire for the mileage is the Cooper at2 not the best on ice but great tire for mileage if you have a dedicated tire for winter then this shouldn't be an issue. If you are traveling on gravel roads a majority of your time I'm afraid there isn't a tire thats going to stand up to that.

Cooper at3 is a 50,000 mile tire for me. Its what I expected.

Toyo M-55's will last but they suck on ice/packed snow. I guess you could stud them.......

Looked at them before. Don't come in my size. Nice looking tires though.

Yes, a friend had them on truck. Hated them in winter driving.

Anyone have any experience with the Wrangler Ultra terrain ?

Diesel owners, what are you running ?

The best winter performance I've experienced with an AT tire on a diesel has been with the Nitto Exo Grappler. My 1st set went ~40K, they probably had 25% of the tread left but I just replaced them as I like good tires with lots of tread going into winter. The Exo's have a 3rd belt in the sidewall that makes them very stable even with a heavy load in the bed or on the hitch.

I ran Hankook DynaPro ATMs for a couple cycles on my F250 and tended to like everything about them but the cost. I suppose I was getting a little over 40k miles per set.

Switched over to the Sumitomo ATs last fall and while considerably less expensive, I have been just as happy with them as I approach 15k miles on them. It looks like they too will go to the 40k mile range. Note, my truck is pulling something for about 70% of the miles it runs, whether it's the camper, boat, pontoon, or light duty trailer with my UTV on it. And I suppose about 1/3 of the miles are on gravel.

Ive had toyo CTs on the last 15 months and have been really impressed. Down side is they are rock throwers.

Not real feasible for most people but as a mechanic with access to a balancer I rotate and balance every time I change my oil. Probably overkill but if wear patterns never start tires last alot longer.

my recommendation based on tire size :

NOKIAN TIRE ROTIIVA AT PLUS or GOODYEAR WRANGLER ULTRATERRAIN AT both are 10ply tires

How did the KO2's perform in ice/snow? I'm actually putting them on my F150 on friday. Replacing my duratracs which I liked for the most part but wasn't impressed on ice/hard packed snow

I seem to read and hear a lot about Coopers being plagued with balancing issues? That's what kept me away from them last time I needed new tires.

the BF KO2 are awesome on ice and snow until get to about 1/2 tread. Then they basically suck
