During hot weather and fast water temperature increase this stresses the fish, they sufficate... lakes in my area with ciscos go first ,walleyes caught deep brought up to fast won't recover in water temps 70+ degrees, lakes with thermal cline walleye stay below and are inaffected by rising water temps until caught.
Water is 65-68 is what everyone is saying

Have to doubt that caused this on Oahe. It was very cool last week by June standards. Water temp can't be more than 65 down there is it?

Rapid water temp increase doesn't take long for shallow fish to stress they float first, water temps in upper 60's on main lake basin you can bet shallow water along shoreline mid 70's... just a guess,im not there but seen this phenomenon many times in various waters before.

Isn’t it the Columnaris virus that kills them after spawn? Happened a few times in my memory.

Spent the last 4 days down by Langlers. Lots of dead fish. Mainly whit bass but there are a few Walleye and Northern mixed in. Saw temps as high as 74 the last two days.

Caught some decent fish out along the channel. The shore lines didn't produce much. Had issues with the trolling motor so mainly pulled cranks.

I was out last week in Mobridge and it was pretty slow. 3 keepers in two trips. I talked to Donnie Palmer and he said he did terrible, and he's a good stick.

Don't know Jeff, but I think his brother was Denny. He started Jeds Landing back 40 years ago, it's now The Bay operated by Grand River Casino

My stepson came up with family to visit and wanted to go fishing. We had a good weekend in Yates area. Saturday put in at Yates and kept 10, and today we put in at PKC and kept 11. His wife out fished us today but he got a 20 incher.

There are boats out again today, and most days that it's nice. I've heard 2nd hand reports that they're doing good fishing channel break.

With water levels too low I'm not putting my boat in at Yates. Too many rocks on ramp and water levels make it so the grade is too level. 🤬

Went out of Langlers and little over a week ago. Did pretty good! Even had a bonus Crappie. Hoping to make at least one more trip this year. Water is way down from this summer.
