Over 55 or so for a daytime high and I tend to shoot'em, gut'em, and cut'em ASAP. If it's below that, I usually let them hang for a day or two keeping an eye on them, or more importantly a nose, to make sure there are no problems. I'll be pulling the trigger on that big boy regardless of the temp, but would wait to fill the freezer until a more conducive temperature is present if possible.

Hey Allen is the Weather Service seeing the same general cool down sometime around the last weekend of deer season? obviously to far out for anything accurate but close enough to see a overall pattern shift and that looks of be a huge shift if the forecasts I've seen are remotely close.

Anything over 40 for the low is too high.

You leave those windows open and it will be crawling with cats. Trust me. They'll get comfortable in the cavity and just purr and feast...

I'd think if you skin tonight and cut it up bright and early in the morning you should be ok, Better yet if you have a window air conditioner you can throw in there quick.

Made the mistake of traveling to the twin shitties to see another Viking loss. It was really interesting/comical to see all the deer taken by hunters in various degrees of protection from the elements traveling down the highway on a 70 degree day. Some just tossed up on the hood, more than a few laying in the back of a pickup, one or two on a hitch mounted carrier. One was all wrapped snug as a bug in a plastic tarp (brown, I might add so it could absorb even more heat from the sun).

Uggh, and people often wonder why I seem a little hesitant to try their favorite venison recipes.
