We also were right on the verge. Ended the day with 15 lbs even just couldn't get that one lucky bite of a 25 inch or better which is unfortanate cause we had one or more like that everyday leading of up to it. But that's usually how it's works haha.

First place was $3500 due to the reduced field of boats. If the field would have been the full 100 boats 1st place would have been $8K. They paid the top 7 spots I believe.

I've been hearing that if they cant get 50 teams per event they might cancel the ND AIM division. Is there any truth to that?

They have to consider the weather on tournament number one. I imagine the big lakes will fill up.

I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if it is true. There was a lot of effort put in to bring AIM to North Dakota and that turn out for the last event was a slap in the face. AIM is set up to allow the weekend angler a chance to compete in a tournament field since it's only a 1 day event and there were only 43 teams that showed up. When you consider the payout for a 100 boat field is similar to that of the Gov Cup (252 boat field) or the Walleye Classic (180 boat field) you would think there would be more participation and interest. I truly enjoyed fishing the AIM format and if more fisherman would give it a shot they might be pleasantly surprised and even land in the money. JMHO

I would agree with you DIRTYMIKE but a month out going into the event nobody knew what the weather was going to be. There have been tons of people fishing the river over the last 4-6 weeks and hardly any of them decided to fish the tournament. It's hard to blame the weather when you had to sign up before we knew what it was going to do. Everyone knew the big fish bite has been pretty good so I'd think that should have been enough for a river rat!

I don't disagree, skeeter. There's also those that want to fish in a tournament but probably not on the river with fear of destroying their lower unit or hull. I think you'll see the 100 boat field on sak and dl. I'd love to fish the tournament but I'm not going to throw money at it based on luck. I don't have the time to invest in a bunch of tournaments. Almost had to sell my soul to the devil to get next friday off before the big muddy.

April on the river says it all for this tourney, maybe if they would have docked south further it would have changed the field.
