This afternoon east of Bordulac. First two from our farm, second two texted to my wife.
All are still more likely to happen than drawing a muzzy buck tag in NDThe odds of getting killed via tornado, lightning strike, grizzly attack, hit by a train, aquatic brain-eating ameba all gotta be about in the same neighborhood.
My brother in-law on Jamestown built a new house maybe 10 years ago. The place doesn't have a basement, but there's a small storm room with foot thick concrete walls and ceiling all around.I think if i was building a house i would try incorporate a gun room that also would be a fall out shelter and a storm shelter. Just cover it all in one shot. A little harder to add something like this when your place is already built.
Are them tornadoes or cold air funnels? This afternoon east of Bordulac. First two from our farm, second two texted to my wife.![]()

I emailed the pictures to KFYR and the meteorologist who emailed me back called them land spouts. Basically a tornado without the rotating updraft from a supercell. They said the rotation starts invisible and closer to the ground early in a thunderstorm, then when they get closer to the clouds and pull moisture in people can see them. Are them tornadoes or cold air funnels?
Myself and kids were at the Red River Valley fair maybe 20 yrs ago. And a storm was rolling in. We were standing in line for something and I looked up and seen 3 of them above us. There was one guy standing there. That seemed to know what he was talking about. And he is the person who made the comment on what they were. I told the kids let's get going. We headed for the pickup and it was getting darker and windy. About the time we got to the pickup the sky opened up and started to rain and hail. There were 100's of people running for there vehicles.
