What say you about this upcoming season? We are traveling east to Bemidji for tonight's game. My guess is that the arena will be at least half full of UND fans. The fans always travel well, especially with the close proximity for tonites game. Should be an interesting game as Bemidji always plays UND tough, especially in their barn.

WHOOOOO!!!! I'm ready! I won't be at either game since I haven't mastered getting my 2-year old to sit still for more than 17 secs but I'll be screaming from home. I don't believe we will be a dominant team this year but we do have some great young talent that could surprise me. I'm confident in Thome's ability in net as long as the D can help him out.

If we can get shots on net like we did last weekend we'll be a better team than most might think. Of course we were not playing a dominant team last weekend but we showed great passing all game and we held the puck on the offensive end most of the night. We also played good blue line defense where I think we struggled last year as we gave up a lot of uneven breaks to the other team. We were not able to put many of those shots in the back of the net but the goalie stood on his head and the goals we gave up were with back ups in our net. I'm excited for the year with the amount of young talent we have and I think we'll make a deep run in the playoffs. I do not believe we have a team that can win it all this year but again my guess is we'll be playing deep into the playoffs... of course anything can happen.

With an eye on my NFL team and college Football team, I'll accept a start like this but when the Vikes and Sioux FB teams are out of it, I thoroughly expect my Fighting Sioux hockey team to be kicking ass. Patience they say!!

Went to the game Saturday. Overall, UND boys are not looking that bad. However, it is early and any person that's been around hockey or played hockey for more than a few years can tell these boys haven't played much together and really just haven't bought into the system. You can def. tell which ones will be playing at the next level though, that's for damn sure. If UND can get that terrible power play to produce even once in awhile, they could really have a chance against anyone really. But for now, that powerplay of theirs was one of the worst I've seen in a long time.

My impression is the same as last year. Lots of good hockey and nobody that can score which is a frustrating combination. I understand it is a rebuild and I will have my butt in my seat but starting out looking like another long year.

Agree with Taylorman, its pretty obvious none of them have any chemistry yet. Hopefully they can work it out and gets some good line combinations set up. Powerplay...Didn't we bring Shaw in because he was a special teams master? Our PP has been a joke since he showed up. I still see some potential in some of these kids but they need to get on the same page quickly.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in net. Going in I just assumed Thome would be the go-to but it's starting to look like Scheel could steal the spot light.

At least our D looked pretty good this weekend, not that Bemidji is an offensive powerhouse.

I am a Bemidji State fan EXCEPT when they play UND as i have family there, so i had to eat crow after the game when i was there with them friday nite. Not the first time it has happened over there when Bemidji hosts UND. Bemidji always seems to be the scrappier of the teams and want it more.

Seems like Berry's downfall has been finding a pure goal scorer. I agree with getting rid of Shaw. He is supposedly a PP expert. I haven't seen anything on the PP that makes me think he's earned that title. Could be a case that he's asking them to do too much on the PP instead of just using their instincts and talent. Hope this is just another classic case of no chemistry and a typical Sioux slow start.

It’s not so much about lack of talent, it’s the fact that our top guys leave after a year or two…look how many guys jump straight to NHL and make impacts … it takes a year or two to develop chemistry then they leave…I am not so much complaining as it’s just how it is.

After 22 former UND players logged NHL ice time last season, 29 are in training camps currently, including four members of last season's team

Right, he's only won one National Championship in the last 4 years. Sheesh!!!

They didn't even make the tourney last year, and Berry won the championship with Haks team, so he still has plenty to prove as a coach.

They are in trouble again this year, lose to Manitoba and darn near get swept by Bemidji. not a good start. and they have Minnesota state next, who just swept Boston. Will see what happens, hope they can compete or it will be a long year again.

Berry has been the main recruiter for some time now so to say it was Haks team is a little short sighted. If you remember when they announced Hak was leaving Berry had already called their recruits to let them know and being he was the main one to land them they were all happy it was him taking the helm. But I agree, he still has to prove himself.

We beat Manitoba, barely. Mankato is going to be a tough team to beat for sure. I'll be content if we can get a split out of that one.
