I have fished almost every weekend, this summer, out of Parshall Bay. The fishing has been absolutely amazing. This past weekend 3 of us fished Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All 3 days we found real nice eater fish.
On Friday, we went out, but my big motor was sputtering and gasping, so we decided to fish from where we were all the way back to the ramp. We pulled crankbaits in about 30 fow and found ourselves a nice limit of 17-19" eaters. We were pulling Flicker Minnow 9's, in Firetiger, or green, colors, at about 2.1-2.3 mph. When we got back to camp we found that the kicker motor's fuel filter was loose, and causing the big motor to suck air through it. Easy fix, and the motor ran good going forward.
We ran the same program the next two days. Flicker minnow 9's in 28-30 fow at 2.1-2.3 mph. The fish were puking up smelt like crazy!! We were all by ourselves almost the whole weekend. For some reason no one was onto this bite. Saturday and Sunday we had luck with other colors, like blue smelt and pink lemonade.
It has been a year of fishing a little bit old school, for me. My graphs have been goofed up all season, not allowing my side imaging to work properly. I've tried new transducers, and Y cables, and all kinds of other options. In the end, I think I need a new head unit, so will try that next, but as for now, it has been a bit of zig-zagging my way through spots with my 2d, and putting a program together that way. I've barely even used my Livescope. I've just been having too much fun fishing with the old school tactics.
