Wanna try a new lake

Been looking for a new lake to try for walleye next summer/fall. Been to Tobin and Winnipeg, can't do the Columbia yet, but read a lot about Tramping Lake in Manitoba. Anybody ever been there? Thoughts?

I thought this topic was going to be about exploring new lakes in ND thru the ice. Was excited to hear how everyone else starts scouting a new body of water. I like to run around like an idiot drilling a bunch of holes until I find a weedline or good drop off (unless there is a map available for the body of water).

Hahaha. I had that coming. I LOVE me some fat sow walleyes, but there are just so many more species of fish to catch and methods to catch them by!

Been to the Columbia multiple times. In my opinion, it is the most likely place that I have fished (Tobin, Peck, Lake of the Woods, Winnipeg, DL, Sak, Oahe) to catch a teener. However, it is definitely not a numbers game, kind of like a trophy hunt. We have had fishless days, and even a good day is not going to be a huge number of fish. Plus, being there pre-spawn in late February-April can be a bit western. When those west winds blow against the current in that river, it can be downright dangerous. That said, have caught many 30+ inch fish there. Always amazes me that the walleye is still perceived as a "crap" fish by the trout/salmon crowd out there. Most of the the guys fishing walleyes there have some ties to the Midwest. Tobin is still one of my favorites, but it ain't like it was before the 2011 flood up there. Still haven't been to the great lakes, need to do it once. I avoid going east whenever possible, don't like the circus with all those people.
